This weekend’s Trifextra Challenge was a thirty-three word free-write from the lovely folks over at Trifecta. My entry is called Recollection.

There is nothing quite as strong as a memory struggling against the edge of oblivion. I learned that the hard way, years ago. No matter how hard I try, I still can’t forget.

  1. shiver . . . those are the worst kind of memories

    • They certainly can be, though I like to imagine that there’s a reason for them to stick around.

  2. It seems so unreasonable that the memories we’d like to forget linger as we struggle to remember other, fonder memories.

  3. Well said and well written.

  4. Wow! Powerful final submission this weekend. Well done! I agree with you wholeheartedly; there are many unwanted memories rattling around in all of our minds. Funny how shit sicks sometimes!

    • Memory has been the theme of a lot of ideas this week, and this just seemed a perfect bit to use for the challenge. I’m glad you liked it!

  5. Some powerful melancholy here.

  6. I thought this would be about trying to remember, when in fact it’s about trying to forget. I like that spin. Powerful work.

Thanks for linking up. Please remember to return for the voting!
