This weekend’s Trifextra Challenge was a thirty-three word free-write from the lovely folks over at Trifecta. My entry is called Recollection.

“Recollection”
There is nothing quite as strong as a memory struggling against the edge of oblivion. I learned that the hard way, years ago. No matter how hard I try, I still can’t forget.

shiver . . . those are the worst kind of memories
They certainly can be, though I like to imagine that there’s a reason for them to stick around.
It seems so unreasonable that the memories we’d like to forget linger as we struggle to remember other, fonder memories.
Memory is a tricky thing, isn’t it?
Well said and well written.
Thank you very much, Jo-Anne! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Wow! Powerful final submission this weekend. Well done! I agree with you wholeheartedly; there are many unwanted memories rattling around in all of our minds. Funny how shit sicks sometimes!
Memory has been the theme of a lot of ideas this week, and this just seemed a perfect bit to use for the challenge. I’m glad you liked it!
Some powerful melancholy here.
Exactly. Thanks, Draug.
I thought this would be about trying to remember, when in fact it’s about trying to forget. I like that spin. Powerful work.
