Yes, I have Lovecraft on the brain. GET IT OFF!
Whew. So, Miss Sonia’s latest writing challenge is this: fifty words from one word. Mine was Euclidean. Enjoy.
Non-Euclidean geometry, they called it. It’s a mind screw. I think that’s kind of the idea. I’m not too sure how long I’ve been here now, and I have no way of knowing if there’s any way out of these damned Escher staircases. Too late. I can hear them coming.

I like this one a lot!
Thank you!
Nice! I wasn’t about to try and write a story with a word I can’t spell or define in it!
I love non-Euclidean geometry. Check out some of the Lovecraft-inspired art when you have a chance.
Ooooh! Kinda reminds me of House of Leaves. I love the idea of non-Euclidean geometry. It’s kind of touched on in a lot of horror, I think. Angles that don’t makes sense are so disturbing. 😀
Thank you, Sonia! I couldn’t resist.
Oh, so *that’s* what Euclidean means! Seriously, I liked this, definitely sent a ‘shiver down my back’ at the end. Like Lovecraft you’ve left a lot to the reader’s imagination, and this is very effectively chilling in so few words.
Thank you very much! I love writing little pieces like this.
Great writing! Dreamlike and chilling -– especially the ending! I have to hand it to you. A fifty-word story seems impossible, but you did it.
Thank you! It’s one of my favorite micro-fiction pieces that I’ve done thus far, and I’m working on a project that’s an expansion of it right now.
